In an effort to challenge Christianity and promote a cultural shift that embraces atheism, David Silverman, president of American Atheists recently announced the launch of a new Atheist TV network in the U.S.
According to Silverman, the new network will be similar to the faith-based television initiatives that have been around for decades. The intent is to establish the secular activist organization as a major player in TV programming.
“At its start it’s going to be mostly non-original programming created by secular organizations,” Silverman said.
The network will include secular local shows “from all over the world and will be adding blogging content” to challenge Christianity free of-charge through the streaming video service Roku.
“The launch is an important step toward ‘atheist normalization,’” Silverman concluded.
