Every parents’ nightmare came true for this young father. Justin Morrice, handed his daughter her favorite snack, (“Nestle Gerber “Cheesie’s”) but only seconds later, she was grasping for air. Justin stated, “I thought my little girl was going to die in my arms!”
After seeing the warning on the label to consume in 5 days, it is almost impossible to imagine a young child finishing the size of these cans in this amount of time.
Not knowing what caused the choking, a ‘warning’ in tiny letters was found on the side of the can, to throw contents out after 5 days of breaking the seal. In opening a new container, Morrice found that these “Nestle Gerber Cheesie’s” crumbled with ease, but the ones in the can his daughter choked on were like a foam ear plug.
“I could squish it but it would expand back out and would not break apart,” he stated.
Justin makes it clear he is not attempting to “degrade Gerber in anyway.” He just wants to make sure no child’s life is put at risk, and is using his story to warn against “lazy” parenting, for the safety of children and to always read labels first.
