A Ben Simmons Return to the Philadelphia 76ers Is a Disaster Waiting to Happen

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a tough spot. They need to make the playoffs, but they also need to rebuild their team and clear some cap space. Their best option is trading Ben Simmons for draft picks, but that would be disastrous for the Sixers’ future.

The ben simmons injury is a disaster waiting to happen. If the 76ers were to sign Ben Simmons, they would be giving up on their current roster and building around him.

Just when we thought it was safe to remove Ben Simmons from our Philadelphia 76ers teams, rumors surfaced that Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul is in talks with the club about a comeback. He might be back in the organization he admired so much over the offseason in a matter of hours. And that group will be there with open arms to assist in cleaning up the tire tracks left by Simmons’ many bounces beneath different buses.

What could possible go wrong, right? Apart from that, there’s the matter of Philadelphia’s championship aspirations (again).

‘Ben Simmons: The Return’ is said to be choreographed by Paul and Daryl Morey.

Paul has a reputation for being a super-agent who can pull his celebrity clients out of situations they’d rather not be in. But maybe he’s realizing that moving Anthony Davis, who has two years left on his deal (one of which is a player option), isn’t the same as Simmons, who has four years left on a max agreement.

Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, predicted a situation similar to Aaron Rodgers’ following a tumultuous summer with the Green Bay Packers during media day. Is this a guarantee that Simmons will be moved next summer? According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons may meet with club executives shortly. For the last several months, it hasn’t occurred.

Make no doubt about it. Morey is one of 30 front-office decision-makers in the NBA who oppose the 76ers giving in to Simmons’ demand for a trade. No NBA management wants to set a precedent by moving a player with such a large deal and money left (four years and $140.4 million).

In the case of Paul, at least one former client (hello, Nerlens Noel) is suing because he didn’t do a good enough job as a super-agent for a non-superstar player. Unless it’s a new-age kind of brilliant negotiation technique to reject away four years and $70 million in exchange for one year and $4.1 million.

Simmons’ return to Philadelphia, whatever it plays out, promises to be fascinating in the “slow down to watch the crash” sort of manner.

Ben Simmons organized a unique kind of protest.

When Ben Simmons declined to report to the Philadelphia 76ers training camp, he embarked on an unprecedented strike. Holdouts have existed since clubs began paying players, and 99.9996 percent of them center on money and the players’ desire for more. Simmons is not allowed to earn any more money than he does now under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

This one, on the other hand, was all about the emotions. After Philadelphia’s humiliating playoff loss last spring, Simmons received a lot of flak. The bullies were coach Doc Rivers and superstar Joel Embiid, and Simmons was the target of their teasing. If “bullying” is defined as “accurately evaluating the degree to which a colleague sucked,” that is.

Fans, the company, his famous teammate, and perhaps the guy who folds the socks in the locker room all made Simmons feel insulted. According to David Aldridge of The Athletic, the star point guard/defensive guru is so dissatisfied that he’d be ready to go to Sacramento for crying out loud.

The band is now practicing joyful reunion tunes. But a lot of rhetoric was sent back and forth, either directly or via allies, and it isn’t going away anytime soon. Simmons may return (Shams Charania of The Athletic said that could happen as soon as this week). They may all smile and say good things to the cameras. However, because to the elephant’s sheer size, moving about the room will be almost impossible.

Both Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers will suffer as a result of a negotiated cease-fire.

Let’s suppose Ben Simmons makes a comeback. The Philadelphia 76ers enter the 2021–22 season with an unified smile on their faces. When things go well, everything falls into place.

It will become nasty if Simmons misses critical free throws that cost the 76ers a game, or if he defers wide-open shots to pass to covered teammates (hello, Matisse Thybulle!). That show will be both fast-paced and reminiscent of a mutual admiration society from last spring.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons’ agent are trying something that has been shown time and time again to be impossible. It makes no difference what you do. That toothpaste will not be returned to the tube.

Spotrac provided contract details.

The ben simmons 3 point percentage is a statistic that shows how many three-pointers made by Ben Simmons in his career. He has shot 29 percent from the field and 34 percent from beyond the arc, which is not good for someone who has been labeled as a point guard.
