Gucci has responded to the claims made in “House of Gucci,” saying that they make a range of products, not just bags. In this interview with Vanity Fair, Scott talks about how his film was banned from China and reveals why he keeps shopping at Zara instead.

Ridley Scott, the director of the film House of Gucci, has reacted angrily to the Gucci family’s mockery of his film, notably Al Pacino’s casting as Aldo Gucci.
The critically acclaimed picture stars Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, and a supporting ensemble that includes Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, and others.
The real-life Gucci family submitted a letter objecting about their depiction on-screen, so the cast isn’t universally praised.
Patricia Gucci, Aldo Gucci’s only daughter, expressed her disgust with Pacino’s casting as her father, calling it “shameful” since he “doesn’t resemble him at all.”
‘Fat, short, with sideburns, incredibly ugly,’ she said of renowned actor Al Pacino’s portrayal of her father.
Scott is incensed, telling Total Film that the Gucci family’s answer was ‘alarmingly disrespectful,’ and that they should consider themselves ‘f***ing fortunate.’

‘At the outset, the folks writing from the family to us were dangerously nasty, saying that Al Pacino did not physically resemble Aldo Gucci in any shape or form,’ Scott recalled.
‘However, how could they be better portrayed than by Al Pacino, to be honest?’ Please excuse me! You undoubtedly have the greatest performers in the world; you should consider yourselves really fortunate.’
Since Scott’s interview, the Gucci family has expressed their displeasure with the film, releasing a statement on Monday calling it a “insult to the history on which the business is founded today.”

The family is upset, according to The Guardian, since Gaga’s character Reggiani, who employs a hitman to murder her husband, is portrayed as a ‘victim’ rather than a killer.
‘Gucci is a family that lives honoring its ancestors’ labor, according to the statement, ‘whose memory does not deserve to be disrupted to produce an inaccurate spectacle that does not do credit to its characters.’
Scott’s House of Gucci is based on a factual tale, albeit the film’s authenticity has been questioned.

The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara G. Forden is the basis for the film.
It centers on Patrizia and Maurizio’s troubled marriage, which culminated in Maurizio’s murder in 1995.
