The NBA MVP race is in full swing, and Giannis Antetokounmpo has taken over the top spot for the first time this season. However, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are still playing well enough to make things interesting. Who will surpass them? Find out after our power rankings.

The “nba mvp candidates 2021” is a list of the top NBA MVP contenders in 2021. Giannis Antetokounmpo has surpassed Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant on this list.

Because the ladder alters every month, the MVP race is heating up this season. With so many superstars playing at a high level this year, it’s practically hard to predict who will win the award with less than half the season gone. However, the revised power rankings have been ranked to reflect which players are leading the MVP race thus far this season.

These might be the final MVP rankings we see at the conclusion of the year, based on their numbers, influence, and overall contributions to their teams. Obviously, injuries or other things might radically change our rating, but by the conclusion of the thrilling 2021-2022 NBA season, the bulk of these players will most likely be in their respective places. As we enter the new year, here are the latest MVP power rankings.

Joel Embiid (10)

Basketball Forever is the source of this information.

2021-22 NBA stats: 26.5 points per game, 10.9 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, 1.2 steals per game, and 1.4 blocks per game

Because Embiid is one of the most dominating individual players in the league at his position, he will almost certainly be in the MVP race for the whole season if he stays healthy. Since his second season, the Cameroonian phenom has been a superstar, and he will be a big reason why the Philadelphia 76ers win the playoffs this year.

The Philadelphia 76ers should be in excellent condition heading ahead if they can acquire a quality player at the cost of Ben Simmons. This season, Embiid has shown every superstar quality in his game, whether it’s scoring the ball or dominating on defense. To be honest, Embiid is a top-three big player in the NBA, and it’s not even close.

James Harden (#9)

1639942834_705_Russell-Westbrook-vs-James-Harden-Comparison-The-Beard-Is-A

NBA stats for 2021-22: 22.7 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, 9.9 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, and 0.7 blocks per game

James Harden deserves to be in the MVP discussion with the way he’s improved his game in recent weeks. Without superstar Kyrie Irving, Harden’s presence as a scorer and facilitator helped the Brooklyn Nets earn one of the top two spots in the East this season. His stats alone are MVP-worthy, and he will once again be an All-Star in the Eastern Conference.

The Beard had a sluggish start to the season, but his offensive abilities and efficiency have helped him catch up. We all know how good Kevin Durant is, but the forward is grateful for Harden’s presence as the Irving problem begins to be resolved. James has thrived as Durant’s sidekick, embracing his position as the main playmaker.

Rudy Gobert (#8)

1641441676_936_NBA-MVP-Power-Rankings-Giannis-Antetokounmpo-Has-Surpassed-Stephen-Curry

The J-Notes are to thank for this.

2021-22 NBA stats: 15.5 points per game, 15.1 rebounds per game, 1.1 assists per game, 0.8 steals per game, 2.3 blocks per game

Rudy Gobert’s name ought to be respected. As an offensive player and a “flashy” star on the court, the center is second behind Donovan Mitchell, but his effect has been the major reason the Utah Jazz have a top-3 record in the West. We’ve seen how Gobert has won the Defensive Player of the Year award three times, and he has a chance to win it four times by the conclusion of the season.

The Frenchman is averaging a monstrous double-double while protecting the rim with vigor, both of which have provided Utah a huge defensive lift. Others, like as Donovan Mitchell and sharpshooter Jordan Clarkson, benefit from Gobert’s presence. Rudy’s need on others to provide him with easy shots around the basket doesn’t diminish his value as a rare defensive player.

Zach LaVine (#7)

1634046716_524_Top-10-NBA-Shooting-Guards-For-The-2021

NBA stats for 2021-22: 26.3 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, 4.2 assists per game, 0.5 steals per game, and 0.4 blocks per game

This season, Zach LaVine has been at the top of his game, leading the Bulls to the best record in the Eastern Conference (25-10). The sharpshooter is hitting 42.0 percent of his threes, 49.7% of his field goals, and 85.7 percent of his free throws. The Bulls are a force in the Eastern Conference because to LaVine’s scoring and his partnership with DeMar DeRozan.

By default, any player (who is almost certainly an All-Star) who is approaching close to the #1 seed in the East will be in the MVP race. LaVine, on the other hand, is no ordinary player since he is just 26 years old and has plenty of basketball left in him. The shooting guard has been outstanding, and this is just the start.

Chris Paul is number six.

The Sports Bank is responsible for this image.

NBA stats for 2021-22: 14.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 9.9 assists per game, 1.9 steals per game, and 0.3 blocks per game

Chris Paul, who is almost 37 years old, is still one of the league’s top point guards. In fact, outside of Stephen Curry, he could be the most influential player at his position. Without the all-time great floor general’s leadership and playmaking, the Phoenix Suns would not have a top-two record in the Western Conference.

Paul’s stats are great once again, and it’s incredible that he’s still able to play at such a high level at this point of his career. Paul’s three-point shooting has down (31.5 percent), but his field goal percentage (48.0 percent) and free-throw shooting have both improved (83.3 percent ). Chris Paul is closing in on the top five in the MVP race because to his offensive efficiency, superb defense, and legendary playmaking.

DeMar DeRozan (#5)

courtesy of USA Today Sports

NBA stats for 2021-22: 26.9 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, 0.9 steals per game, and 0.3 blocks per game

DeMar DeRozan has been the most crucial player for the Chicago Bulls this season due to his outstanding scoring. The forward is averaging 26.9 points per game while shooting 49.4 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from three, and 85.8% from the line. DeMar is also one of the league’s most clutch players, having hit game-winning shots in back-to-back games for the first time in NBA history.

It’s difficult to say who should be ahead of him in the MVP race between him and Zach LaVine. DeRozan, on the other hand, gets the nod because he has taken over the Bulls’ offense in recent games and is a dangerous clutch player down the stretch. DeRozan’s confidence is at an all-time high, which is why he is closing in on the league’s top four players this season.

Nikola Jokic, No. 4

1636788364_124_NBA-MVP-Power-Rankings-Stephen-Curry-And-Kevin-Durant-Are

courtesy of USA Today Sports

2021-22 NBA stats: 25.7 points per game, 14.0 rebounds per game, 6.9 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, and 0.8 blocks per game

Because his injury destroyed the squad earlier this season, Nikola Jokic has an uphill climb to return Denver to a top-3 ranking. The Nuggets struggled to find victories without the reigning MVP on the floor, and are lucky to remain above.500 so far this season. Denver should be back in the championship chase whenever the center begins putting victories together for his squad.

Jokic, on the other hand, has been an all-time great on paper. The center is putting up stats that are unlike anything we’ve seen from a guy that plays below the rim like Jokic. Nikola earned the MVP award last season, but he may have a better season this year. His RPG stats are at a career high, and he’s gained a competitive edge. Jokic is a better player this season because to his improved toughness and aggressiveness, and he’s creeping closer to the top three in the MVP race.

Kevin Durant (#3)

1639404053_355_MVP-Power-Rankings-Stephen-Curry-Still-Ahead-Kevin-Durant-Is

2021-22 NBA stats: 29.7 points per game, 7.7 rebounds per game, 5.7 assists per game, 0.7 steals per game, and 0.9 blocks per game

Kevin Durant is in the top three by default because, despite the absence of Kyrie Irving and James Harden’s troubles earlier in the season, he has maintained Brooklyn with the best record in the East. After a serious Achilles injury, Durant has shown his value as a top-3 player in the world, averaging roughly 30 points per game (37.3 percent 3-PT FG, 51.4 percent FG). The Nets are in the center of the Eastern Conference pack without Durant on the roster.

Durant would very certainly be the MVP favorite in practically any other season. Because KD has been at his best all season, it just goes to show how dominating the top two players in the game are right now. Durant’s value has been harmed by his loss in the previous three games at home, as he should have shut out some of those opponents. Regardless, Durant will most certainly finish in the top three all season.

Stephen Curry, No. 2

1641441679_786_NBA-MVP-Power-Rankings-Giannis-Antetokounmpo-Has-Surpassed-Stephen-Curry

NBA stats for 2021-22: 27.2 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, 6.1 assists per game, 1.5 steals per game, and 0.5 blocks per game

The game’s finest point guard is playing at an exceptionally high level, and he may be enjoying his best season in terms of on-court domination and leadership yet. Curry has made the Golden State Warriors much better than anybody imagined them to be without Klay Thompson. Curry’s leadership as a seasoned veteran with a championship background has improved the performance of those around him.

It’s terrifying to think about how the Warriors will look after Klay returns, since their rotation will be great on both sides of the court. Steph is a gifted athlete who continues to develop new aspects of his game. Curry’s defense and end-game decision-making have both been outstanding this season. As is customary for a point guard playing Hall of Fame basketball, he is now behind the MVP favorite.

Giannis Antetokounmpo (#1)

1637119598_248_Top-5-Favorites-For-Each-NBA-Award-Right-Now-Stephen

NBA stats for 2021-22: 27.9 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 5.9 assists per game, 1.1 steals per game, 1.5 blocks per game

Because he is just stronger and more athletic than everyone else in the NBA right now, the Greek Freak is the most physically dominating superstar in the game. Giannis is an incredible player on the court because he can defend five positions while also scoring when he gets a burst of energy. It makes no difference that Giannis is shooting under 28% from three-point range this season.

Because of Giannis’ effect, the Bucks are just 2.0 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the top record in the Eastern Conference. Due to injuries and Covid, Milwaukee has had a lot of fluctuation with their roster, but Giannis has been the constant. Simply said, Giannis has been more dominating than any other player in the league, which is why he’s being compared to Shaquille O’Neal, the 2000 NBA MVP.
